Dead baby chick in our breakfast Eeew!

It's not even 9am and already we've had an exciting morning.
Summer and Caitlin got up to run their mile, as they are training for Civil Air Patrol.
Noah and I watched the very talented Bobcat driver tear up the street in front of our house, and put the concrete pieces in a VERY BIG truck.
Then, we all came in and started to make french toast for breakfast. As we were cracking the eggs, one had blood inside of it (Eeew!)
We opted not to eat it, and we moved it to a plate to check it out. Here is a picture of our dead baby chick that almost ended up in our french toast.

Camp LutherHaven

Our field work church in Avilla held their services at Camp LutherHaven this morning. We worshipped, had a potluck lunch, and swam in the lake well into the afternoon. It was a blast! I wonder if we could get called to a camp? Hmmm.

FREE SCHOOL SUPPLIES

A local business called Windows, Doors and More held a Big Back to School Celebration on Saturday. The kids shared free cotton candy, pizza, lemonade and ice cream.
Everyone (except Noah, who was too little) got to jump in the moon walk toy, and loved it!
They gave away prizes; Ethan won a backpack, and Jacob won a water bottle. Their ad offered free school supplies, which we stood in line for, thinking that we would get paper, pencils, rulers and such. Actually, they handed out a $15 gift card per kid to the United Art and Education store. We had a blast shopping, and ended up getting a few small things, like a meter stick and a new dry erase calendar. But, we also bought the Elenco, Electronic Snap Circuit set (over 300 projects). An expensive, but very cool science kit that we have been wanting, but not buying because it is $63! What a great day!

Video Camp

The four oldest of our half dozen are spending two days at Video Camp. They are taking a short script, playing parts, working with camera equipment, editing software and making a short movie.

It is a two day intensive camp, and they are having great fun. Mom has been busy at home with the little ones, and hasn't had a chance to take any photos. But, a reporter from the Journal Gazette was out there yesterday.

Here is a link to the shots that they took.

Ludington, Avilla, and other Fun places

Don has finished the first year, and now is on to summer Hebrew. The work never ends, but the time is flying by. Here are some photos of fun things we've been doing lately.

Avilla Days, local festival in the town where our field work church is. Summer worked the food booth, Ethan was crowned Avilla Kiddie King, got to ride in a convertible in the parade, and Caitlin got an opportunity to open for the band that was hired to play at the pavilion in the evening. A great day all around.

Ethan got to talk live on the radio. It was very exciting to be interviewed by the DJ after being crowned king.

Don has completed his first year of Seminary and has started Hebrew this summer. Time seems to be flying by. Here are some photos of things we've been doing.

Ludington Marina Playground, Father's Day weekend, Loved that we got to see the Badger pulling out of port while we were there. Only in Ludington!

Don's Got Issues

There are only two ways to get an Issues, Etc t-shirt.
You have to make a personal appearance or be chosen for sound byte of the week.
When Don went to visit the St. Louis campus, the guys all stopped by the station and introduced themselves on the air.

Smart Enough to Come In Out of The Rain

It's been raining for a couple of days and it's muggy, so I opened the back door to let in some fresh air. Noah walked right outside to play. A few minutes later, he came back in, soaking wet, but smiling.
